Kind of went all out on dessert. This is way too much dessert for three people. This taiwanese dessert place named Mabu Station has a very very extensive dessert menu. I walked in and the server spoke to me in mandarin I gave her the clueless look and she still only spoke mandarin -___- oh well This is the dessert I ordered, its grass jelly with coconut milk and a bunch of topping which includes, sweet potato, sweet peanut, red bean, barley. x_X don’t like it but at least I gave it a try.
Here is me assembling my dessert bowl together Coconut Marshmallow Brick Toast
I was on a mission to cross the bridge and find Jane’s Carousel. Let me tell you it was a longer walk than expected since I didn’t realized I had to loop off the bridge. I seriously just wanted to jump off the bridge and towards the pretty carousel in the glass box when I saw it.
I really am surprised there aren’t more Starbucks in NYC especially for an American Coffee company. There wasn’t any at Newark Airport and I wasn’t able to locate one in the streets of Manhattan ( my bro is a coffee monster and they’re kind of my go to place to take a pee break). I was also highly amused by the sale of lemonade as a drink option since that doesn’t exist where I’m from.
Here are some food highlights of places I really enjoyed:
Gramaldi’s Brick Oven Pizza
Lady M – GAWD their famous Mille Crepe Cake : O a cake to remember….I want a cake this delicious for my upcoming birthday Told you my bro is a coffee monster, he didn’t get his Starbuck until we arrived back at Toronto Person Airport
The American Museum of Natural History is one of my favourite museums out of my NYC trip. In my opinion Just skip the entire museum and head straight to the dinosaurs on the fourth floor, the rest of the museum is like a taxidermy zoo …okay maybe not the space part which is architecturally nice to photograph.
What I learned: do not go into a museum that is only partially opened for viewing even if they offer you discounted admission. The whole spiral was off limits when I went 😦 and there were only 3 exhibits technically 2 since one of the exhibits was bullshit elementary school kids art work.
Went to The High Line, 9th ave Food Fest and saw the iconic Flatiron building. Was kind of stressed out that day because my luggage got lost. NYC is so much more warmer and humid then I would have thought.
Lego store was a distraction …I had to go in : OOOO
So I regularly stick my hand into my bunny’s food bucket to refill his dish and tonight I found this. I sat there staring at it and counting how many legs it had… 12 on each side …24 legs. Insert 24 leg insect on google and I got house centipede, Scutigera coleoptrata. Feel free to emit a high pitch scream now…. it is quite visually disturbing. No bunny boy you may not play with this.
Some days I feel like i can push on, that there’s still hope and some days I feel sad and hopeless. It is now May and Im dreading June to come. I have never felt so uncomfortable about passing time until now. Time passes but I can’t chase me ideals, it scares me. I haven’t been myself, haven’t been able to be myself because of the stress and the constant waves of depression that I face.
I created this mushroom pizza recently, it was an odd moment that reminded of what I enjoyed two years ago. When I slowly gave up on my self part of me also gave up creating and cooking food.I anticipate things that may not happen to try feeling better. This brand new bag is waiting for a phone call, an interview for that job I want, someone to tell me I’m the candidate they want. When will that day come? I try to maintain a social life and not be a hermit, not to sit in some corner of my parents home and cry about how everything is not working out for me, I’m dying for the day I can sing and shout that I made it and that everything was okay after all, that my hard work paid off.I feel like being honest today, honest with my feelings and thoughts and not hide behind these pictures. You see this tiramisu dessert below in all it’s glory, beneath all that pretty decor is dark pungent bitter coffee. A facade. I can’t bare to post these pictures on my other social media with “:D yummy” or #foodie (not because they aren’t delicious) but because it’s an inaccurate overall depiction of what I’m so called “up to” these days. I’m trying to piece myself together.
As an ending note I would like to announce that I am escaping to Manhattan, New York for 4 days from May 16- 19. So if you have recommendations of where to find the best cheap eats and hipster places to visit give me a shout in the comments below.
